Women Are Happy Being Single-Minded

A  new breed of women who are happy being single and living alone.

"Freemales" is the label that has been given to the growing number of women content in their single life.

The latest research from the Office for National Statistics shows the number of women living alone, between the age of 25 and 44, has doubled in the past two decades.

And research also shows single women no longer feel they need to be in a relationship to be happy.

More and more women are shunning the idea of marriage in favour of living alone and increasing numbers of women are divorcing and staying single.

These single women are happy with their lives and content with the intimacy they get from other close relationships with family and friends.

In fact, their lives are so full with work and socialising they have little time to worry about finding Mr Right.

This just goes to show that it's far more important to have stable and supportive relationships in your life, than it is to find a partner just for the sake of having one.

Of course, some of these singletons are interested in a relationship but that's not to say they are unhappy being single.

Wanting to be in a relationship is very different from feeling unable to be satisfied without one.

It is important you are able to be happy in yourself and don't try to find happiness from another person - that never works in the long-term. There's no shame in being single and unhappy but it would be a mistake to think simply finding aman will make everything better.

Firstly, being in a relationship won't necessarily make you happy and, secondly, there are other ways to feel fulfilled.

Happiness comes from having a full life where close relationships take many forms, from family ties to friendships.

Being satisfied with all aspects of your life, from your career to your social life, should be every bit as important as worrying about your love life.

Being in a relationship should be about choosing to be with someone because they make you happy - not because you are afraid to be single.

Realising it is perfectly possible to be single and happy might make less women put up with unhappy relationships and encourage them to choose to be with someone, or not, for the right reasons.

There is no reason why you, too, can't be one of the "Freemales" who are happy and fulfilled as single women in the 21st century.
